Mr. Aultz is a Vice President at TriGate. He works with the investment team to analyze acquisition opportunities and assist in the asset management of existing investments.
Prior to joining TriGate, Mr. Aultz worked at Brian Gibbs Development, a real estate development firm focusing on multifamily properties. While there, he specialized in underwriting new multifamily development opportunities and assisted in managing existing properties. Prior to this role, Mr. Aultz interned at Merrill Lynch where he researched various markets and new investments for the Global Wealth Management department. Mr. Aultz also has equity analysis experience, specifically focusing on the oil and gas industry.
Mr. Aultz has both a B.S. in Management and Masters in Finance from Tulane University, where he focused on real estate and the oil and gas industry.
Mr. Krage is an Investment Analyst with TriGate. As an analyst, Mr. Krage is responsible for assisting with the underwriting of new acquisition opportunities and providing support to asset management for existing investments.
Prior to joining TriGate, Mr. Krage served as a senior analyst with NAI Global’s capital markets team. During his time at NAI Global, Mr. Krage was involved in the disposition of more than $240 million of commercial real estate and non-performing loans. In this role, he was responsible for the underwriting and disposition of commercial properties across all asset types in over 30 different markets across the United States. Additional experiences include internships with Texas Capital Bank’s private wealth advisory group, and The Retail Connection in Austin, Texas.
Mr. Krage attended The McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Finance and was a member of the Business Honors Program. Mr. Krage is a licensed Real Estate Salesperson in the State of Texas and is involved with TREC.
Mr. Mearns is a Senior Vice President of TriGate. He has 14 years of experience in real estate investment including portfolio management, structured finance and debt and equity investment underwriting. Prior to joining TriGate, Mr. Mearns was Director of Investment Management for Hawkeye Partners, a commingled real estate investment fund. Experience included underwriting equity investments in real estate development and operating companies and establishing Hawkeye’s investment management infrastructure.
Prior to Hawkeye, Mr. Mearns spent ten years with Westbrook Partners where he rose to the level of Director and managed a commercial real estate portfolio with a gross asset value of $800 million. Primary responsibilities included managing operating partners and internal staff in the sale, financing, leasing, development and operation of investments. While at Westbrook, Mr. Mearns was involved in $2.0 billion of investment sales and $1.5 billion of debt financings. Experience included management of investments in all asset classes in major domestic markets as well as foreign investments in Tokyo, Paris and Seoul.
Mr. Mearns has also held associate and analyst positions with the Archon Group and Comerica Bank. Responsibilities at Archon included investment analysis of office and industrial assets. At Comerica, his experience included underwriting loans on apartment, retail and single family development projects.
Mr. Mearns has a B.S. in Finance from Murray State University and a MBA from Southern Methodist University.
Jason Obenhaus, CFA
Mr. Obenhaus is a Senior Vice President of TriGate. He has a background in real estate private equity, investment banking and capital markets.
Prior to joining TriGate, Mr. Obenhaus was an Associate with Onex Real Estate Partners, the real estate arm of Onex Corporation. Experience included underwriting potential debt and equity investments and evaluating real estate entity investments. Prior to Onex, Mr. Obenhaus was an Associate with the leveraged finance group of Fieldstone Private Capital Group. At Fieldstone, Mr. Obenhaus specialized in equity and debt transactions for oil and gas service companies. Prior to Fieldstone, Mr. Obenhaus was a high yield and distressed credit analyst with SAMCO Capital Markets.
Mr. Obenhaus has a B.S. in Engineering Science and Economics from Vanderbilt University and an MBA from Columbia Business School. He is also a CFA charterholder. In addition, he is a member of the University of Texas Real Estate Finance and Investment Center Associate Council.
Mr. Rooney is a Senior Associate at TriGate and joined TriGate in 2013. Mr. Rooney focuses on analyzing opportunities and assisting in the asset management of existing hotel, office and retail investments. Additionally, Mr. Rooney is dedicated to growing the company’s hotel platform throughout the United States.
Prior to joining TriGate, Mr. Rooney worked at C-III Realty Services. In this role, he was responsible for managing distressed asset dispositions, and specialized in the underwriting and marketing process. Additional experience includes time at The Woodmont Company in Dallas, Texas and The Baker Group in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Mr. Rooney attended Southern Methodist University’s Cox School of Business in Dallas, Texas where he received his B.B.A. in Real Estate Finance in May 2011.
Mr. Schneider is a Senior Vice President of TriGate and is responsible for acquiring and managing retail, office and hotel assets across the country.
Prior to joining TriGate, Mr. Schneider was an Associate in the real estate group at Stanford Management Company. He underwrote investments, structured ground leases and managed the entitlement of development projects for the University. Mr. Schneider also worked for Lehman Brothers in their energy investment banking and real estate private equity groups.
Mr. Schneider has a B.S. in Economics from Tulane University and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
J. Paul Sharp
Mr. Sharp is a Senior Vice President of TriGate. He has extensive experience in real estate investments, asset management and loan workouts. Prior to his current role at TriGate, Mr. Sharp was a Vice President at iStar Financial, a publicly traded REIT focused on both real estate investments and debt originations. He was responsible for leading the central region of a $2.5 billion real estate portfolio. Mr. Sharp focused on the strategic repositioning and disposition of a variety of asset types located in the central United States.
Prior to iStar Financial, Mr. Sharp spent seven years as a Vice President of Cousins Properties, a publicly traded REIT focused on the development and ownership of Class A office and retail assets. Primary responsibilities included managing all leasing, financing, sale and operations of real estate investments. He was responsible for a variety of assets including a 4.6 million square foot Class A, office portfolio, 500,000 square foot retail portfolio and various land assets. Prior to joining Cousins, Mr. Sharp was an Asset Manager at the J.E. Robert Companies and focused on the workout of distressed loans in various REMIC and CMBS pools.
Mr. Sharp has a B.B.A. in Finance from Stephen F. Austin State University and is a Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM).
